The easiest way to inspire someone…

“Be Yourself. Everyone else is taken.” – Oscar Wilde

As I look back on the past year I realize how many different people inspired me. I was inspired to write more on my blog. To finally send in that book proposal. And to start projects I usually never would have followed through with…

When I look back on each person who inspired me, there was one thing they all have in common: I could see who they really were and what they were passionate about. In short: They were not afraid to be themselves.

They weren’t trying to inspire me. They weren’t pressing the issue. They were just there…with their words, with their voice, and with their beliefs.

As a teacher and writer I often think about what it takes to inspire and motivate someone to action. But it’s not some difficult equation. The easiest way to inspire someone is to be yourself, and let them know what you stand for…

Now for the tricky part: What do you stand for? I’d love to know in the comments.

  • Great advice and so true it is. Just wrote a blog post myself on the importance of staying motivated as a teacher earlier this morning. So important to stay motivated and inspired ourselves. bit.ly/19bMnFK
